In any event, I'll repost my review of my favorite set from Myra this year:

Uhm, this year I got into Sven Vath and Luciano Esse some. I also downloaded more stuff from the amateur djs here on TA like AlliedNations and Bas/Clovis. As far as trance/prog I listened to quite a bit of Markus Schulz this year and got more familiar with older trance hits that I missed or just never took the time to remember their titles. Granted the usual Digweed/Sasha/J00F stuff I listen to. Other than that I finally completed my Led Zeppelin collection and whored out Abby Road/Sgt Peppers quite a bit this year. This is the first year I didn't listen to one Paul van Dyk set. I feel bad about that though because he used to be my favorite DJ but now =/.

This year I've drifted even further away from EDM than I though I ever would, and the music I've been listening to has mostly been old. That being said, I did enjoy the new albums from both Hartnoll brothers, Eelke Kleijn and Stephen J Kroos.

I think this is actually the first year I've not seen a single live show/DJ set.

I feel like I really have a better understanding of what I want to play now and the sound I'm going for when I DJ. I feel like this was my "test" year where I tried a lot of different stuff before finding what I'm really into.

I'm loving DJing right now, and every time I get bored theres always some interesting music coming out or being discovered in back catalogs that makes me want to plug my cans in and get going...

I was also heavily influenced by a lot of DJs, namely, Az, montana, RJT, Bobert, Bas, DROOGs, Bill Patrick, Dennis Roberts, Lee Burridge, Digweed, Three, Damien Lazarus, Von Stroke vs. Matthew Dear, Magda, Howells (as always), Lee Foss, Konrad Black, Shonky, Radio Slave, Rene Lomeli,

I think next year is going to be a lot of fun for me.

I'll post up some tracks later...

Also, this year I have pretty much lost complete interest in Sasha.

my highlights of 2007:

1. Luke Fair's Balance 011 - anyone who knows how deep my love for Luke Fair goes doesn't even need an explanation for this one. by far one of my favorite mixed compilations, ever. i creamed all over it the first time i heard it. also, seeing Luke Fair play twice this year was pretty awesome.

2. discovering Neil Quigley - although i haven't had the chance to see him live yet, i've been completely obsessed and blown away by his monthly promo mixes and his 3 hour live set from Nov 2nd in Toronto. he's an amazing DJ and has brilliant taste in music.

3. playing out - even though it was mostly at little rinky-dink clubs in Milwaukee where i was playing mostly to (and with) my friends, it's been an amazing experience and i feel like i've learned and progressed a lot in the last year. by far my proudest (and most fun) moments were getting to play with Tom (nrjizer) in Atlanta, and playing my first gig in Chicago. also, i totally feel the same way as Clovis in that i've begun to find "my" sound.

4. Mili Sefic - he was the Chicago local who impressed me most this year. his opening sets for Funk D'Void and Danny Howells were fantastic, and he's just a really great guy in general. it makes me sad that he's moved back to Bosnia.

5. seeing Audio Logic Recordings take off - started by a friend in Chicago. he asked me to do all the artwork for the label, and i jumped at the chance since i've always enjoyed being able to combine my love for music with my love for graphic design. the first release took off big time, and it was great to witness my friends succeed like that, and to know that i helped to create the label's image.

6. Sven Vath - i didn't even think i liked techno until i saw him. by far one of the best shows i went to in 2007.

beyond that, there have been tons of DJs, labels, producers, tracks, and so on that i've discovered this year that have further deepened my interest in and love for EDM... but it would take me forever to list each and every one of them. all i can say is that personally i thought it was a great year and i've had a lot of fun.

A. It was definitely great to see you step up at Wax a few weeks back - I definitely know about the anxiety that can come along with it.

2. The progress of Audio Logic has been unreal - that first release was just really huge. It's nice to see music from friends coupled with artwork from my future robot wife all over the place.

In general, looking back on 2007 I think I really, really enjoyed a lot of what I found/heard/bought/whatever. It was a good year from my perspective.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention... I've gotten a lot better at finding good music than I was previously.

Well, some of my favorite tracks this year are:

Swayzak - Smile and recieve (Apparat Remix)
Guy J - Night Loss
Phonogenic - Last Beer On Earth
Christian Fischer - Advance Panorama
Gui Boratto - Mr. Decay
The Field - Over The Ice
Spencer Parker - You Got To
James Zabiela - No Other Way But Down
Nick Muir - G Platz
Jurgens - Love It (Final Mix)
Joel Mull - Begun The End Has (Original Mix)

I liked "Transitions vol 3" a lot. "Sound" presented there sums up my 2007. Also enjoyed a lot Luke Fair's Balance mix, and Luke Fair's Transitions Guest mix (22.04).
