Useful video, but yeah, some important genres are missing.

And I really like the sample used for drum'n'bass.

Hopefully this helps, it helped me out a lot to learn to distinguish the differences between genres and sub genres.

People get electro confused with minimal? It seems like people usually get electro confused with "buzzy synth house."

I can get confused between the more sparse end of electrohouse and minimal. The way I see it is minimal is more percussive, but I suck at putting things in genre boxes.

At least the first track he plays is supposed to be "techno" but i always thought techno is harder, faster? Anyway, take a look, see if you agree with this dude. I'd say this is more up to date than Ishkur's guide, albeit not as detailed.

Decent video. I'll use it to educate minds of the young.

"Electro" house and minimal have absolutely nothing in common except they're both EDM.

That has to be the most retarded thing i've heard...

of all genres... TECHNO?

AND DNB WTF?

What about someone like say, Marc Houle where would you put him genre wise? Or Booka Shade? I really need to sort my genre knowledge out when it comes to electo, tech and minimal i don't know whats what. I just try and find what's good and what isn't.

Am I the only one who thinks they chose some really, really shitty tracks as an example of each genre?

If someone linked me that to try and educate me, it'd probably just turn me off EDM forever.
