Next week MixesDB will start to change its format.
We will no more offer any downloads.
No we're not dead, we're not giving up, we're simply 100% legal.
Why the hell!?
We had no problems with the law, no worries and no panic please! We just want to avoid that in the future.
It's a simple fact that you cannot offer live set downloads 100% legally and esp. not in the dimensions as we did.
We do no more take the risk of doing so. The bigger the site grew, the bigger the risk and problems got.
Better switching now than later.
What about us!?
Although we know we won't see 90% of you again in the future,
we would love to see some of you coming back after the change contributing to the database.
About the downloads, well it's easy. All mixes added except some own tape rips and recordings were found via internet.
Use it to explore other sources than websites and forums. We well keep track of what is worth it.
What now!?
We will keep all the data we have collected in the past year. So nothing will be lost.
It will become an even better database than now, just without downloads.
Changes

much more details about Artists, Clubs, Events, Radio Stations, Radio Shows, etc.
more coding on the software for more features
We will continue adding new sets etc.
We will continue to care about correctness cos most do not.
The only difference: You have to find new ways of getting the files 
Change process
We're sorry that we had to close the site temporarily without any warning! But it's the only way.
So the site is closed for now and behind closed doors we will start to do the change.
Absolutely no idea yet how to do it and how long it will take or when we'll be back.
Maybe 2 weeks or more. At least nothing will happen till next week. We'll keep you updated here.
We can imagine your frustration about that, but this is the only safe solution after 1 year of extreme sharing the music we all love.
For the leechers of you the downloads may have been the only reason to visit us but the core of the database are
the hard facts which we have put so much work at and there is only more to come and to be done.
So the real shame would be to be forced to close the site just because of the downloads you can get elsewhere aswell.
Better to be 100% legal than going off one day. So all the hard work will be worth it in the future.
So thanks to all contributors before and later, respect to all the people sharing in the web, via ftp, torrents and slsk.
We all need you in the future 
We're very positive about the relaxed future and after starting the database this may be the second best decision we ever made.
We hope you can understand our decision and will support our goals in the future.
Some may laugh, some may be sad. We love you all!
