I demoed this unit two weeks ago at Guitar Center (The Prodigy one). One thing I didn't like, although I'm a CDJ 800 user, were the jog wheels on the unit. They spun like roller blade wheels. That is, I'd make an adjustment and the wheel would keep spining. They felt very heavy and momentum-influenced. Again, maybe I'm just used to the more firm/quick stop feel of the 800 wheel, but that's my view on that.

The faders felt fine. Eqs were solid. Sound quality sounded ine to my ears.

But as I told a guy looking at it in the store, for what you get, and especially without really any kind of long term user exprience out there, 1000.00, in my opinion, is way too much for this. As someone said above, what if one drive breaks? Your entire unit is a bust (or most of it). And again, that jog wheel just was not very good for precise cuing/control.

I recommended the guy look at something like the Xponent from M-Audio. It's half the price and can arguably do a lot more. I like the feel of it a lot more as well. For 1000, you should DEFINITELY get individual components. And if you don't care about scratching, get two 200s and a nice mixer.

The amount that the gimps at GC tried to push this thing on me told me straight up that it was utterly worthless.

My advice: Save up and buy real equipment, don't waste your money on gimmicks.

Seriously! It's like GC owns Prodigy.

Fact: Not a single employee of guitar center knows a fucking thing about DJ gear. Even the ones who claim to themselves be DJ's.

Most useless bunch of gimps I've ever encountered.

It's for the most part totally true. I was giving advice to people that was 10x better than anything the employees said. My number one piece of advice, DON'T BUY CORE GEAR AT GC. It's sad when I see people pay 699.99 for a 800 mk2. They didn't do proper price research though so maybe they deserve it.

That's not true. I know several personally here in the DFW area that know their shit, and are also some of the best DJ's in DFW.
