Very strange to hear this piece of illogic. Was always under the impression that the Southern Hemisphere was the exact opposite of our seasons here. Well in South America both Chile and Argentina the seasons were as follow:


Summer:
December 21/22 - March 20/21

Autumn:
March 20/21 - June 20/21

Winter:
June 20/21 - September 22/23

Spring:
September 22/23 - December 21/22

Oh, and the drain in our water goes down clockwise and from what I remember the water goes into the drain counter-clockwise south of the equator. That's was one of the greatest phenomenon to see when I was in the Southern Hemisphere.


edit: I just googled and looked at wikipedia about seasons and learned that seasons are described in 3 ways: meteorological, astronomical and tradtional. So if we are describing both Northern and Southern Hemisphere seasons in a "meteorological" description they all start at the first of the month.

well no, the reason I asked was because my friend in Sydney asked when's the best time to travel to Nth America and I said "off peak" coz it's cheaper, less crowds, etc. The next question was, well what are the dates? Then I'm like...
