how? asides from the greater storage capacity what advantages does it have? to be honest i dont care about the difference of a bajillion gigs and a gazillion gigs of storage.

i want no region coding more than anything. its one of my (many) pet hates.

tri? cool, didnt know it existed. can bluray go tri too though? doesn't having multiple layers make discs less stable when scratched though?

there's no visual difference trippers.

blu ray is miles ahead in support, check the link above, read and then comment.

good luck in your unfortunate one sided debate.

yes
but hd dvd's spec is finalised. bluray's isnt. as in you can spend lots of money on a bluray player, and 6 months from now, the movies that come out won't work on it.. lawl
most likely

if they do release bluray drives that support quad layer, most likely will only go into burners for data storage purposes rather than the video line for the factor already mentioned.

and while that's in the lab, the hd dvd group have taken tri layer out of the lab.

if there's no visual difference, who really gives two shits about storage capacity? films are only so big.

for that reason alone banana....beta back in the day was clearly a better format to vhs but didn't have the support it needed to sustain the battering the format didn't deserve....you can only exist for as long as there's majority interest.

When we're talking about sony ps3's being sold when you buy a bravia xbr and they're starting to keep ahead of sales of xbox 360's and wii's steadily, you don't need to be a smart pkc to work out that ps3's in homes is bluray players in homes.

hddvd has an uphill shit fight to get anywhere quickly. on the weekend at least 3 of my mates went out and brought bravia lcd's and take advantage of the free ps3's. i'm sure if you muliply that out to people that know of this promotion, you pave way for a shit load of players now.

it's promotions like this that gives Sony muscle. not tricky specification and ridiculous claims.

true, the extra storage doesn't give extra visual quality.
however, the fact that hd dvd's arent mastered by monkeys means in pretty much all reviews, hd dvd's are better in video quality than the equivalent on bluray.
lawl.
