I agree.

I bring this up because within a year I'll probably face the prospect of moving away, maybe permanently, from the place I've lived for the past 21 years. Some of the friends I have here, I've had since first or second grade. Chances are that if I moved, I would move pretty far away since I wouldn't want to stay anywhere in the south other than Texas (I don't really like the south, but Texas is home). So I would probably hardly see any of these guys again.

I'm not sure why, but I haven't made any guy friends since high school, and I'm starting to wonder whether I'll ever be able to. Even if I do, I don't think I'll be able to come close to the kind of friendship I have with the guys I grew up with. But who knows.

oh ya btw all my friends are in the in crowd.....

and my best friend, get this, we were born 2 months apart. we were next door nrighbors when we were born and basically shared the same crib. when i was 4 years old i moved from that house. somehow we have stayed in touch all those years, i remember when i moved i would get my mom to dial the number for me to talk to him on the phone to ask our parents to drive one another to eachother's house to play. we've honestly been through everything together. never been in a fight.....okay maybe 2, one he threw a beer bottl at my head when we were drunk, and the other we were smashed and just decided to play fight and it turned into a fight and a half. we were bleeding but still laughing abt it.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

Aside from 1 grade school and 1 high school friend I still keep in touch with, all of my other friends were made mostly during college and post college (made a ton of friends via TA from all over, not just NYC).

I have a few different groups of friends. I have friends that I work with and will likely stay friends with after leaving. I have friends from high school who are undoubtedly my closest friends. I have friends I made in college. I have friends in the trance scene, friends who I go snowboarding with... Different groups offer at the very least a wide variety of fun for the weekends! And I really don't make it a habit of keeping "acquantinces", most people I keep in touch with are genuine friends or people with that potential. Acquantinces were more useful back in my younger days, when I needed to be sure that every friday and saturday night had something lined up! I usually just try to surround myself with people of similar character...

I've got three different groups of friends, really.

The ones in Chicago were all from high school....they are the ones i've known the longest, and we share a lot of experiences and stuff in common. they're the ones that no matter what happens, i know are always going to be there.

The second group of friends are down here in Shreveport....and mostly AF. real good guys that you can totally depend on - and take care of each other. i've only known them for the shortest amount of time, but instantly clicked.

The third group are the ones that are scattered all over the place, but were originally from college at Iowa State. So a mix of Air Force people, and a mix of my meteor friends. We're all over the world now, so it's hard to stay in touch aside from emails and phone calls. but we still have the memories, and whenever someone's going to another area, we try to get back together (had a buddy come down to new orleans, others met up back in iowa for new years, etc...).

Being a shy kid and moving a lot during junior high and high school meant I didn't keep many friends. Just one from junior high and one from high school I keep in touch once in a while

Lots of casual acquintances, only few friends. Then again, I'm rather picky about who I deem friends.

The friend label gets thrown around too easily I think
