If you read the report right, the NIE says Iran quit its nuclear weapons program, it does not say it quit its "peaceful" nuclear program, in fact it hints at the opposite. |
And yet that contradicts so many statements this Administration has said up to the release of the NIE, ESPECIALLY when they knew ahead of time what the NIE was going to say (yes, Bush lied about when he knew about it, strange huh?).

Then thank goodness we stopped Bush's complete bullshit charge before he invaded without verifiable and supporting evidence of actual nuke WMDs then, right?
And no al-Qaeda connections, of course, which our Administration did know about ahead of time but invaded Iraq anyway.
And no yellow cake from Niger, of course, which our Administration did know about ahead of time but invaded Iraq anyway.
And no unmanned drones that could attack our coastlines within an hour after launching.
And while there is yet another dictator in Iran, his power is not even remotely close to that hapless dictator we overthrew in Iraq.
And no biological WMD mobile labs that will be used at any moment against us and our allies.
But other than that, yes I guess I can see your point about the desire of Iran to build nukes. And honestly I'm tired as hell of hearing that argument for the fucking Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive invasion for every fucking country that has some sort of desire or intent to be eeeeevil, because following that argument to its logical end would entail us attacking far too many countries to count, including some whom we have some very interesting business ties with and merely look the other way with their eeeevils.

No doubt, and I don't deny this to be troublesome at all. What I do vehemently disagree with, however, is yet another possible boneheaded invasion rather than a diplomatic approach, something that's so incredibly foreign to this current Administration you'd think the word was spoken by martians, simply because they at one point in time were building a nuke program that even if it would have continued to develop would have been years away from completion. But as it occurs now, they only have an intent to build one.
I'd just rather try and actually have a little chat with them first rather than create any more fucking havoc there, far more than what we've already created, thanks.
| quote: | | Iran is clearly building a nuclear program, and it is not certain (except for the geniuses in the CIA) how quickly this could change to a nuclear weapons program. |
Then why don't we have a little intelligent discussion with them along with some multi-lateral worldwide pressure to get them to play nice, rather than put ourselves in situations where we are just egging and saber rattling at each other? Because it's clear that the latter is doing nothing productive at all.
| quote: | | Clearly Iran can not be taken at its word and is pursuing a very dangerous policy, which this and the next president will not be able to deal with lightly. |
Well with all due respect to this president, wait, who am I kidding? I have absolutely no respect for this current dipshit. I just want someone else, hell I'll take a couple of the Republican candidates, hell I'll take anyone who doesn't swear to the neocon flag, who can replace this recalcitrant turd in office and do something else than the current Middle East foreign policy.
Anyone, except maybe Giuliani, can handle foreign policy better than this president. The sooner he's out the quicker we can move on and start cleaning up the mess he's left behind.
