I love the opening track here! Very peaceful and beautiful. This reminds me of watching a slow sunrise by myself in an isolated place or, quite the opposite, sitting alone in the rain somewhere – both equally pleasant, though. The lead in Trying My New Wings is nice. Tracks like this make me wish I could mix breaks. I really need to take the time to learn. Sunrise is rich and warm, and I like how you can hear the “swirls” from Trying My New Wings slowly fading into the background in Sunrise. Greenstone comes in next with a solid, punchy kick. The guitar riff in the breakdown is somber and introspective. Perfect for pausing to reflect at the end of a long, exhausting day, perhaps. Nice mix into the Arthur Deep treatment of Deep Desire! Love the little echoing jingle on this melody – sounds almost like a xylophone or something similar. New Friday slips up before you know it. Nice, smooth mix there! The Mango treatment is lush, as always. I don’t think I’ve heard a Mango track I’ve disliked. The vocals combined with the sythn stabs are simply incredible. You’re correct – this is a very “happy” track. Another smooth mix into Terens Ferenz. Your description of this track is right on – wobbling melody that sort of takes you out to space then reels you back in! A nice combination of drive + atmosphere in this track. I missed the mix into Express Yourself the first time around. I had to go back and locate it. It chugs along rhythmically until its brief break, then it really turns into a monster of a tune! Boxing Day slides in next with that smooth bass line and tingling melody. This one really gets you moving. Another smooth transition into Foresta, which is indeed a little funky. The lead is one of those “twangy” melodies, and it works well. The fade into Escape of Sound is nice, and this track is “darker” just like you said. Though darker, the trancier melody and breakdown work well together. This track reminds me of driving through a city at night, as crazy as that might sound. Another seamless mix and we’re into I Am Guilty. The melody is very familiar, but I can’t quite place it. It almost reminds me of something Solarstone would produce. It simply explodes after the break! You’re taking us towards peak time now, good sir. Time is Burning has that distinctive 4Mal touch – nice work on the bass line in this track, and the guitar sounding breakdown is pleasant as well. Now we’re into the “track of the mix” for me – Fuerte. Oh my god. One word sums up this gem – hypnotic. I live for this kind of track. I checked out Beatport, and the Solesystem treatment is by far the best. Thank you for introducing me to this. What a tune! Massive, massive, massive. I must confess that I am not that familiar with Zabiela, but this closer is perfect. Totally get lost in it. Okay, I’m old and tired. Good night to all.

Stunning review once again Ryan mate! Almost enjoy reading your thoughts more than the mix itself
I think you have summed up better than I could what the mix and specifically, the tracks, mean when listened to in deep immersion and contemplation. For me this type of music takes a degree of isolation and reflection to fully feel the emotion inherent within. So happy that other folks take the time to go "deep"!
Agree whole-heartedly with all your track descriptions too mate, seems we have very similar responses to them. As for the "Fuerte" track, well its definitely got something about it, a certain hypnotic quality for sure. For me though it evokes a lot of nostalgic memories of trance in my formative years, and that really stirs my soul. Solesystem have produced a few good tracks, long may it continue.
As aside note about the Zabiela track- I'm not his biggest fan usually, hate the whole glitchy tom-foolery electronic music myself, but "Perserverance" is a different kettle of fish altogether, been hooked on it since the first listen! I doff my cap to the man.
Glad you enjoyed it so much sir, certainly gave it my all to whack out a great mix for the new year and it seemed to come together very fluently. See ya next month
