thanks for the feedback so far guys!

creating patches doesnt take days. you're just slow. lern2program and lern2engineer.. you're probably just in the experimentation/learning phase still.. like someone said.. it's just the oposite these days you need expensive gear less and less. id say half the problem is your choice of samples/processing done to them..

for the first song.. id say the kick is lacking some 12+khz.. alittle too much 1-2khz and overall doesnt slap enough

the bass.. try some stereo enhancing on it, but leave under 300hz mono... same with the kick.. the kick is the most important part, if it sounds crap and old school, your whole track will. also one of your open hihats makes it sound pretty old school.

hoping wont make your engineering skills level up. you need to train them.

Also try to add some more interesting transitions.

How about a midi

i did eq the low range quite a bit. the system im using to moniter is a home stereo (ugh!). the bass is really heavy so my mixes tend to be bass weak cause i never know if its too much bass. what if i took the eq off the low end of the bass and resent it to you? it might give it some more punch. there no chorus on the bass at all. its a logic 7 es2, using three square osc. one osc is an octave higher than the two lower ones to give some more definition. cutoff highish. thats all. then its just side chained to the kick.

when you mean transitions you mean with the bass or with the song?

and as for the midi...cant you just listen to it to rip it off? haha jk. its pretty simple two quarter notes are the first da da and then the third is on the upbeat after the 4th kick in the bar. do you run logic? i could give you the project file.

what would you say is wrong with the samples and processing? poor samples? to much comp , not enough....

ill try what you said for the kick. but you say to stereo enhance the kick??

i agree the offbeat 909 hat sounds oldschool.

aside from the kick/bass/oldschool hat issue, what else do you think?
