and on that same note, I was also a huge fan of Stephen King's The Mist and I thought've how awesome it would be if it were made in a movie.
I did like The Mist(the film) and it's pretty much spot on, but I just didn't like the ending. No spoilers, but if you read the short story you know what I'm talking about. I hope Alternative Endings will be available when it comes out on DVD.

Any ppl who've read the books? Do the movies match the quality? I'ld say yes since the movies rock but then again, havent read any of the books.
I feel like the movies add very little to the book. Actually, it only leaves certain things away. OK, the movies are all rather good, but what do they add that is of value, other than CGI? I consider thsi to be a rather pointless adaptation since it doesn't really add to the original work.
So, great book, good movies, but bad adaptation.

requiem for a dream was fucking excellent
same with running with scissors
the book was good, but really fucking scatter-brained and confusing
I also hated Adaptation. I think too many elements were added that didn't do anything for the story. It just muddied it.
Room With A View. -E.M Forester would have been a filmmaker if they had the technology in the 1800's. He wrote in a very visual way and Merchant/Ivory really capitalized on that beautifully.
