Weed stimulates heart rate for like 15 mins...coke, meth, speed whatever it SUSTAINS an elevated heartrate for MUCH longer
(depending on how much you do)

It can actually be both a stimulant or a depressant depending on the strain. Its not as bad as Coke or Meth cause it doesn't jack up the heart that much compared to those 2, and doesn't constrict the blood vessels like Coke does. One things for sure it stimulates my appetite. If a user is having a racing heart, I would bet its cause that person is having a fit of paranoia or a slight freak out session as most of us pot heads have probably had at least once...its in your head though and if u can calm yourself down, your heart rate drops as well.

I would be willing to bet that people who already have an arrythmia, could potentially die from smoking weed.

There are probably plenty of deaths out there caused by THC, but not as a direct effect.

This would keep the hippies that keep claiming "weed has never killed anyone" to keep chanting.

"Although rare, severe shutdown of blood circulation to the arms or legs has been reported in young people who smoked marijuana. In some cases, it was so severe that amputation was required. Marijuana may also serve as a trigger for heart attack on rare occasions, usually within an hour after smoking. Allergic reactions have been reported, some of which were severe."

So if a heart attack killed someone because the THC triggered it, the cause of death would be heart attack and not THC. I think the general public is rather blind, ignorant and/or high while claiming that weed is not in anyway potentially harmful.

Exercise speeds up your heart. Hard exercise speeds up your heart a lot. Is this bad for your heart?

The answer is that it depends on the person. If you've been diagnosed with any cardiovascular problem, then don't do it. That's just common sense. If you can do hard exercise (say, running a quarter mile a few times at top speed with a minute of rest between each time) without any chest pain or faintness, then it's pretty damn doubtful that weed will kill you. But I guess there's always that microscopic chance.

From the moment you leave your house in the morning, your chances of dying increase. Everything involves some degree of risk.

I hate it when this happens. Sometimes my heart will go uber fast, and because I'm high, I get paranoid and freak out, but I always calm down and realize that it's just something weed does to you. It's never caused me harm, and I jog all the time, so I think I have a relatively healhty heart.

Upon diving into my psych book, drugs that speed up the heart do not give the heart what it needs to run at that speed. When you exercise...your heart gets everything it needs...to put it simply.

If drugs speeding up your heart was a good idea, then crack addicts, coke addicts, meth heads, etc. would be world class athletes. Instead they find themselves clutching their chests in pain in the ER room.

But are the same risks present with THC that speeds up the heart? That is really the question....and I'd like to see if the same effects were present if you used a vaporizer.

I'd really like someone to prove that THC isnt bad on your heart...because I love it.

Hey, I never said that it was a good idea. If you care much about your health, anything but occasional moderate drug use is a bad idea. But the fact is that most people who take drugs -- any drug, even heroin -- don't develop serious health problems from doing so.
