The Scene: 2007 review | btb style
The entire Guvy main floor cleared, leaving Danny a virtually empty room to wrap up his set. The sheer horror of it all brought me into the other room to see if this blatant disrespect of a proper DJ was just; and as expected, it wasn’t. Moby’s complete lack of any DJ skill and preparation made me shiver. To make matters worse, the entire room was eating it up… it was terrible. |
Ummm, I don't know what party you were at, but I highly enjoyed Moby's set.
| quote: | | We searched the complex for something more our style but Ali was playing extremely dark tech and though MSTRKFT blazed The Drink for a while, everything else was cheesy and / or overly dirty. There was no doubt, this was the last time we’d ever set foot in the Guvernment or any other event produced by this team. |
Again, I don't know what party you were at. It was kind of a "meh" event, but you make it sound like the worse party ever

What are you talking about? Toronto has an amazing scene. We have everything from big, all access Guv parties, to niche DJs from almost any genre you can think of. Not only that, Toronto has a great crowd that is usually up for it.
You speak of Toronto's crowd being "commercial", and I see where you're going with that. In the last year or two, there have been a lot of new partiers entering the scene who don't really know much about it. Calling this phenomenon "commercial" gives what is happening a negative connotation. I in fact think that this new influx of partiers is really positive, and what this scene needs.

The Sunday evening parties went off extremely well all season, with my personal highlight being Sean Miller’s performance on Labour Day. This promo released later in the year represents Sean’s maturation as a DJ and artist. He’s progressing in all the rights areas and at Sunset Sessions, it was all on display. |
I'm sorry, but after going on a rant about how commercial Guv is, this last bit comes off as a bit hypocritical. You're trying to tell me that The Docks is underground? Yea right! If anything, The Docks was MORE commercial than The Guv. That said, any time I went to The Docks on Sunday, I had a great time. But there's something a little bit wrong with your argument if you bash Guv for being commercial, and then hype up The Docks.

WTF? Why did I not know about this? I was at both the cruise and Paeez which were both amazing. However, when I got to Paeez, it shut down only 45 minutes after I got there. I wish I had gone to the after, after, after party.

Isn't it a bit ironic that the author of this post is clearly making a jab at message board users in an article posted on a message board?
This "review" gets a big WTF from me.
