Yea but Scientology is full of rich celebreties (and most likely celebrety wannabes), which is one reason to dislike it. And yea you have a very valid point, in my opinion, all religions have dumb stories that go along with the point they're trying to make (kinda like when they couldn't think of a persuasive argument to use to back up their theories they decided to throw in a story about a man living in a whale because at the time people were into that kinda shit). But where Scientology differs from mainstream religion is that it costs. It's effectively a pyramid scheme that extorts money out of people. If you want to be religious you should be able to go to your book store, find your chosen holy text and be whatever religion from there. You should also be able to attend holy churches and practice your religion free of charge (unless you're a member of one of the more, shall we say, extreme Mosques in which case you will be expected to make a small contribution to the quest to re-establish the Caliphate across all Muslims lands - but that's by the by)
So altho on the crazy side you can say Scientology is just another religion but the way it charges membership fees certainly isn't religious and should bar it from ever being recognised as such by those countries that don't |
Yep. While religion is also debatable and it is a good point, religion is free. Most religions don't force you to pay nor do they threaten you (yea yea I know, doesn't always apply ). The point is that Scientology is not a religion. It is a cult and a pyramid scheme and any Scientologist that comes up to me and demands that I stop calling it a cult will result in me running around them in circles singing "cult cult cult" and so on.
