I went through the same ordeal when I was lookin to get tables, and I waited and got 1200's...let me tell ya, the wait was worth it! But I learned on belt drives. IMO don't pay for belt drives!

Mer: I don't know the nitty gritty of the tables, but can you xplain what the .01% wow and flutter is?

Peace

Direct drives, Belt drives are ok for learning, but belt drives just mix easier

honestly i'm no sound/deck engineer myself... but it was at one point in time explained to me - what it all boiled down to was the accuracy of the deck - the same term is used on tape decks, cd players, etc.

the lower the number, the more stable the mechanics are. i'll try to find a more technical explanation and post it for yall ...

Ok. This should make a little more sense.

from: http://www.classicaudio.com/gloss

Flutter: Quick waver of pitch caused by speed fluctuations in the movement of tapes or discs. Heard as a sort of quiver.

Wow: Slow variation of pitch caused by speed fluctuation in tape or record movement.

so, basically, wow & flutter is a measurement of the speed accuracy of the deck.

this is important because speed changes cause the beats of two mixed tracks to go out of sync....

So in English, that would mean "Flutter- Unexpected speeding up of platter" and "Wow- Unexpected slowing down of platter", wouldn't it.

dude belt drives suck. they have horrible torque, they don't hold their pitch and the belt motor is unstable. plus all the pros use directdrive if u can afford it get technics but if u can't go with a cheap dd table.
