Apparently whatever Dubfire is playing is "underground". Because he "gets it", not many people do, but he does!

Not gonna sit here and defend his musical productions but some of the assumptions a lot of you pull out of your ass are pretty hilarious.

Because nobody else here is allowed to offer their thoughts besides you, right?

In my opinion, many of his new releases are shit. His tracks are not underground. I don't care how he labels his records or that they are produced by Dubfire, to me they are still shit.

What assumptions? He went to DC-10 and forgot about electro house then got signed to Minus with a few tracks that aren't really anything great.

Underground = forging new territory ahead of the curve imo

...and Dubfire is a long ways from covering any new ground for techno...

I sort of agree. I wouldn't call them sh*t but I definitely feel like he is holding back for some reason. He said in his forum that he didn't release the version of Spacebird in Digweeds EM because he thought it was too "progressive". What that means, who knows... because the track is an absolute bomb and everyone has obviously been seeking it out more then the stripped down "minimal" that he released instead. Which reaches out to another argument. I think that is what he is doing instead of making great music, he's catching the minimal wave a little too late and his efforts are really bland and predictable. C'mon, is he really going to put another TSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHH in his next track? I'm willing to bet he does!

I don't really care if he's trying to be "underground" or not, he's made a commitment to good music lately - hooking up with Loco Dice, Tiefschwarz, and Paul Ritch are all evidence of that to me.

Personally I think he has been putting out some great productions lately. They're deep, techy, intelligent and they've been working well in my sets for a while now. His Space Bird remix is phenomenal and I'll be playing it for a long time to come. I certainly respect that everyone has their own tastes and everyone will not agree with me, but I'm really surprised at the overwhelmingly negative response that all his new productions and remixes seem to get on this board.

I don't post a lot, but I read these boards regularly and I respect a lot of you guys' taste in music, but it does seem to me some people are just blindly lashing out at Dubfire because of who he is or his attitude and not giving the tracks a chance to start with.

Bottom line is, will his tracks work well in a club? Yes. Will they get me dancing? Most likely.

I'm looking at it a lot further maybe then I should, but I just feel like he could be doing a lot better with his tracks then he is when I listen to them outside of a party atmosphere.

I'm sorry for wasting your time.
