I had a great time. Left orlando to ocala around 7pm. Traffic was gay so got there a little after i originally planned. got to the joint around 840ish and met up with my buddy to do a soundcheck. Didn't realize it was a gay bar till i went in but it wasn't anywhere like i thought a gay bar would be. anywayz, i did a soundcheck and setup my cdjs and got aquainted with the mixer i was going to be using.
The promoter/my friend opened from 9-1030ish playing some tech house in the beginning and then moving onto a mix of breakz and banging electro. some other guy got on for a while and then the resident dj came on. he played for about an hour playing trance, which i was kinda glad he did cuz it made my job easier lol.
anywayz, got on around midnight and opened with Sweet Genesis to get those rainbow bastards moving. played for about 2 hours. honestly i kinda did not know what to play after about the 1st 30 minutes so i just kinda went with the flow. Had some difficulty at first cuz the booth monitor and system in that little lounge was actually pretty fucking loud. i did a mixture of the whole night of mixing in headphones and also of turning up the gain on the song i was cueing up and using one ear to listen to that and one ear to listen to the booth monitor. i thought i was going to trainwreck cuz i wasn't use to that since i usually headphone only mix but i had no difficulty adjusting.
All in all it was a great night. Promoter helped me out with setting up and everything. He came up to me after the show and asked if i wanted join his Crew/Production/Promo type deal which is sweet.
Great time overall for my 1st gig so i'm happy.
