technics 1200s - 1.5kg/cm

Numark TT500 - 4.5kg/cm
Stanton T120 - 4.5kg/cm
Stanton STR8150 - 4.5kg/cm

that is 3 times as much. how much more do you need to classify it as very low? technics have durability and branding on their side, same as pioneer cdjs. all other factors can be outdone by others, easily (think dennon cdjs).

Well, you've conveniently left out the decks at the LOW end of the torque range, the ones most relevant to this conversation. You know as well as I do, or at least you should do, that there are a lot of decks out there that have a startup torque of less than 1kg/cm.

For example many of the Citronic range are rated less than 1kg.

I'd say it was more accurate to say that the torque level was mid range.

Technics might have less torque than those mentioned, but can u really say that it isn't enough? I've never heard of anyone ever complaining or having problems with them, because of it.

IMO, the other brands can not be said that they are better just because they have more torque, because it is unnecessary.

I would choose the techs over them anyday. Not saying that the other brands are not as good. Apart from their preformances, I just like the way the Techs looks and feels, as well as the reputation it held, which promises reliability. Just my preference tho.

You've hit the nail on there head there. These ridiculously torquey decks are just a gimmick, the torue is simply not needed, and doesn't help in the slightest.

It's the only card they can pull against the 1200.
