Its not reinventing the wheel, sometimes you will need a kick with a certain timbre for your track.

I use Drumazon and Nepheton together and put them through some light distortion, reverb and some hard compression and see what I can squeeze out that way. For the most, though, I make hard techno so it's not the right kind of kick most would want here.

Hey im interested in hard techno kicks! Also was wondering if you could explain a bit about reverb on a kick? Why is it done? Is it used as a send or insert?

typically reverb on hard techno kicks is a gated reverb. check out some gated reverb plugins. theyll help you get a very cool sound on kicks and snares.

Yeah thats why your sampler can make adjustments and why you have tons of different kick samples available. |
theres no excuse for making a kick that uses a fundamental frequency in tune with your track. if you pitch a kick up and down in a sampler it makes it longer and shorter along with changing tune.

id like to see it but what i meant is, simply taking a kick sample and trying to tune it to your song cannot be as effective as making your own kick drum and tuning it to your song from the get go. plus you can have more control over how it sounds and make it fit in your track better.
