the UN security council, as far as i know, has yet to recognize Kosovo as a country. I think any motions made toward it have been put down.
however, what i think is the issue is the way the issue has been treated in the media and politically.
yes, Kosovo has been recognized by several countries, however, that is illegally infringing on Serbia's sovereignty.
Marches of celebration do nothing more than enforce a muted acknowledgement, one fully outside of European and internaitonal rules.
Consequence? Kosovo will probably gain independence mainly because of the massive push that has already been made without the proper legal proceedings to go through.
From the looks of it, Serbia's NOT willing to go down without a fight, and Russia is most likely going to do everything in its power to 'legally' prevent this.
It's a big fuck-up, but ignoring it and saying "who cares" i think is at the very least insulting.
