For the past 2 love fests, i've stayed at The Mosser hotel.
It's fairly cheap, the rooms are nice, and it's an easy walk to the BART station (right around the corner). If you want to save even more money you can go for the shared bathroom suites, which just means you have to walk a few doors down to take a shower. You still get a sink & stuff in your room. I've walked from there to Bill Graham auditorium but it's probably more advisable to take a cab.
But for a nice hotel that's right by the BART station, you can't beat $67 bucks (on www.kayak.com) in downtown SF.
edit: hmmm just saw it's at the Cow Palace this year, ok maybe not the best of locations then hehe

I'm sure she's read it already, but I don't think Bart wouldn't be a great means of transportation that night. Especially in the area where the Cow Palace is.
However that hotel sounds nice and if she doesn't mind cabbing it than that should work. I know I wouldn't pass it up.

cow palace is a pain like that being in an industrial corner of the city, bad transportation, sketchy surroundings at night, aggressive cops after cow palace events, etc.
so unless you plan on flying out early AM and want to do an airport hotel, do a downtown hotel near BART and just catch a cab back downtown to an after party or the END UP..
I guess me and my friends will be hosting some sort of after party at our hotel

Thinking of flying out Friday night. It looks like staying in SF is the best bet and take the BART/Muni down and catch a cab back.

Ya, we might be able to drive you back to the city. Depending on what time we leave.
Stay in SF, plenty more parties that will be going on afterhours.
