I have posted some of these tunes at another thread and i thought it would be wise to post them here as well, together with some other related tracks. Hope you like them!
S.P.Q.R. - "Unlimited Dreams" (1993)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DVB...feature=related
(this is my favorite tune of recent days, been listening to it non-stop! Amazing atmosphere, powerfull rhythm and melody)
Gipsy- "I Trance You" (1992)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn_-FohaB2o
(Sljiva mentioned it and i post it. Great atmospheric track.)
Sublime- "Sublime" (23rd Precinct, 1991)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_PS2iZfc78
(nice dark riffs, pads and rhythm)
Transformer 2 - "Pacific Symphony" (1992)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ67...feature=related
(classic ambient-edged prog-house)
D.O.P - "Lion" (1994)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qrp...feature=related
(groovy and trancey at the same time! Great.)
Desert Moods - "Desert Moods" (1995, Stress)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm_b...feature=related
(anthem! Classic trippy prog-house with amazing interplay of beats and melodies)
Area 51- "Let it Move You" (1992)

Man, I didn't know of that Leftfield tune- "Not Forgotten". This is really awesome, i love the deeeeep moving bass and the warm strings-excellent! |
Not Forgotten was the very first progressive house record. It brought Barnes and Daley together to form Leftfield and set the stylistic blueprint for their early work. Without it, this thread wouldn't exist. Quite simply, one of the most important electronic records ever.
| quote: | | So is this "Dirty" track an instrumental remix of Underworld's "dirty epic"? I have the track with vocals in "Dubnobasswithmyheadman", although this instrumental version is much more hypnotic with the ever-spiraling sequenced line... |
No. It was originally released as Dirty under the Lemon Interupt name. Hyde and Smith had stopped recording as Underworld (listen to their early releases and you'll understand why) when Emerson joined and went off on a new, house direction. They also remixed as Steppin Razor. However, they released Mmm... Skyscraper as Underworld and the track was a hit, so they resurrected the Underworld name and decided to release everything under that one moniker. Dirty re-emerged as Dirty Epic, which was altered slightly and given vocals to fit the Underworld style more closely.
