Hey Russ, Your son is 1000000x better than me. haha
so sweet. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a parent.... but its glad to know you can filter your love into someone so important, such as your son.

HAHA you are probably one of the only people on here that would get that one
I have thousands of Northern soul tracks still on vinyl here and even more on my computer
wish I could get a chance to spin them all again and educate people about one of the sources of dance music.
if anyone has read the book
"last night a dj saved my life"
and wants to know what northern soul is ,hit me up and i will put together a cd for you of the best.
I wouldn't say no to a cd... even though I know what it is and my dad used to go to the Torch in Longton, Stoke to 'rave' lol

Out of all the chapters in that book - all of which were extremely interesting - I found the Northern Soul read the most interesting. Mainly because it predates so many other forms of "DJ music" and the scene itself mimicked (EDIT ok Mimic is the wrong word but I'm too lazy to correct the grammar) many of our contemporary "rave" scenes.
If you ever put together a complilation and posted it up I would most definetly check it out.
