definitely yes but there has to be some rules governing it.
an average person should not be allowed to get assisted suicide. it should only be allowed for the terminally ill.

let's throw this out for debate.
why shouldn't normal people be allowed to kill himself?
either way, if a person wants to kill himself, he will find a way (rope on a ceiling still works)

How about people who have lost their neural functioning or physical abilities to do anything for themselves? They may not be terminally ill but they should be given the right too....

They are. Assisted suicide is for those who CAN'T do it themselves for physical reasons.

Because there are so few of them in the world.

I agree. Considering how easy it is for people to kill themselves, I don't see anything wrong with making the process a less tragic than having a family member come in and see their dearly departed hanging from the ceiling.

i think it all depends on the circumstances. if theres a possibility for a recovery then no, however, if there is no chance what so ever then i believe its up to the person, laying on a hospital bed knowing you will pass soon is freaky to me, who wud wanna lay in a bed suffering while waiting for your time to come, i think that wud kill me before nething else, suffering is one thing but to know and have to antipate ur death is another.

Yes to all cases in which a person is proven to be of sound mind. True, it may seem hideous, immoral, or unethical to some based on opinions, beliefs, and so forth. But projecting those opinions onto another person and his/her own life is every bit as wrong. As mentioned previously, our life is the only thing that we truly own and thus we should have control over it. There are many, many, many people suffering out there who want nothing more than to be at peace, but can't because the government will not allow it. I find this to be an indredibly rediculous concept.
