And yeah - I don't know how to really explain the tracklist to be totally honest. I just pulled out a bunch of old CD's on top of the new ones and started playing.
I don't really get the opportunity to play "big" tracks out (hardly appropriate to play "Lick my Deck" at 11pm ), so I guess I just wanted to see if I could still even manage to play some of these and not sound like a complete asshole.
Also, Jay - if it makes you feel any better I edited the piss out of 5 so it only plays for about 4 minutes, and only used the first 4 or 5 of "Wonderland", so it shouldn't be too terrible a bother, although I should warn you that the mix out of "Wonderland" is probably the one I'm least happy with.
Great job, Rob... to be honest, even though the flow is...well...all over the place on this one, this had some of the coolest tracks in it out of all your sets that I've listened to. It might be my favorite.
It's a nice listen for those days where I still want to hear some good music but I'm feeling a bit ADD.
I'd love to hear you start doing more of these "just a little bit harder" sets, myself.

Thanks David.
I definitely thought it was a bit ADD as well - but hope it wasn't too disjointed to be enjoyable.
Not at all! I don't think a set always has to have the same entire type of sound throughout with no variation. Each type of set can be fun in its own right, when done well.
And I happen to really like that Apocalypse track... don't tell anyone.
a somewhat mellow & melodic start in that cavalerra tune was complimented very well by the melody in Klangfarben, but took on a more progressive edge. Love the Voorn track, building more "twang" into the set and continuing with the progressive material.
all was well until Lick My Deck kicked in, that threw me off to be honest. not really sure why, but the pause/breaks during the song were not complimentary to the whole thing... maybe too early?
well whatever... Darin's track was necessary to get out of that whole thing and move us into my favorite tune of the bunch Past Due. love everything from the Vitamin right now. a daily dose of vitamins is just what the doctor prescribed. Wonderland reminded me of Oliver Klein's take on Leger's Hit Girl... at least I think that was the track as I was following along.
the second half was the really sexy, techy house that I was looking forward to when I looked at the tracklist. perfect groovy shit to play late night and make the people go wild up and down the dancefloor all the way through Cycles (which had it's own melodic "trancy" moments). I would definitely say 10-12 were my favorite part.
Walkman felt like a filler and the set should've been longer than it is. We are left wondering where you'd take this afterwards.
good shit overall rob, loved the idea of playing something new and definitely different from you. you showed me a side of yourself i didn't think existed... but what do i know!

+1... I like Lick My Deck (I just bought it the other day, actually) and all the tracks on here. I think they work together fairly well, they were just strangely ordered. Which, I guess one would expect from a random "omg I wanna mix _______ tracks" set.
Still, a keeper.

Also, speaking of Lick My Deck, I'm pretty sure it drifts, straight from Beatport. Bastards.

Thanks Denys - I'd be lying if I said you weren't one of the handful of people I was trying to win over with this one, and I'm glad I did an alright job of it.
This was obviously a one off thing - so there wasn't really any planning at all prior to jumping on and hitting record (apart from the first mix - I've done it before, liked it, figured it'd be an alright opener for this). It was definitely something that seemed to get big and loud quick, and figuring out how to go from there was not an easy task for me, but I feel pretty pleased with how it all wound up.
And yeah - Walkman was totally just thrown in because I needed to leave but hate the way Cycles ends, so I needed something I knew I had edited down to an outro/ender. I think it works ok as kind of a "credits rolling" tune - but can see why you said what you did.
In any event - thanks to all you guys who checked it out, I'm glad it's been so well received. This was definitely me just picking out some of my favorite tunes from all over the map in the past couple of years and finally throwing them in a set together, so having other people enjoy it is definitely the icing on the cake for me.
