no its not. if thats the case then your saying corn ethanol is too. your taking one thing and replacing it with something just as bad if not worse. no matter how you put it, you can find a few cars of the same class that have less waste, similar carbon footprint when considering all things, and yet has similar mpg as that same pos. dont kid yourself. the prius is COOL to have. go ahead and buy one to look cool, but dont tell me that its better than nothing. cafe standards and having the EPA change its regs to allow things like the catalytic converter to be replaced by better alternatives is smarter.

If cafe is meant to be car, then I completely agree. The government needs to raise the MPG standard on cars, regardless of whether or not the American car companies like it or not.

Why every 5 years? The Prius was originally thought to only last 100k miles, but they worked well beyond that...

CAFE standards = MPG rating for cars and trucks in the USA. commercial vehicles are excluded from this. in europe they refer to it as in a bin X tier X spec. same thing different names.
