I said goodbye. Then I took a deep breath, thought through some things and decided to stay.
No I didn't post this type of thread. My thread was about people having nothing better to do than to just insult others who have a different opinion than them. Way different. And let me just add to those who are telling the thread starter of this thread 'oh you're saying I'm stupid now' he actually didn't. He said that this forum has a lot of stupid people. Not everyone on this forum is stupid.
I don't agree with the thread starter getting so pissed about people being misinformed or stupid because that is something some people just can't help. Being jerks and doing nothing but insulting people...that can be controlled and that is what my issue was. But I choose now to ignore it.

Does that make it fact? No...it makes them popular and well accepted and thought if. There is no way to measure the things you are speaking of...it is not indisputable...if it were, would people here not be disputing it? If there were some end all be all way to prove it, it would be indisputable. |
this has got to be the most ill-concieved piece of garbage logic I've read all day. Sorry buddy, but every music scholar, critic, magazine, dvd documentary, book, you name it claime the beatles as the most important band in history. I'd love to see you dispute this. Only un-informed people dispute this.

Re: This forum could quite possibly contain the biggest amount of stupid people

Let's put it this way, released less than eight years ago, The Beatles' greatest hists album "1" (a very decent album by the way) sold almost 30 million copies. Led Zeppelin's one-off reunion managed to get
ONE MILLION people to register for tickets, easily making it the biggest concert by any single band in history. |
I wonder how many concert tickets 50 Cent sells on an average tour. Probably quite a few. Does that make him a brilliant musician?
By the way, I'm not saying that the Beatles or Led Zeppelin made bad music. I'm just casting some doubt on your assumption that popularity and quality have any necessary connection.
But the biggest point to address here is that you never really explained what you mean by "taking a type of music seriously." What do you mean when you say that you don't see how people can "take trance seriously" compared to something like the Beatles?
I hope you know that a number of people, many of whom know quite a bit about music, see the Beatles as nothing more than featherlite pap, stupid pop unworthy of being "taken seriously." But I'm sure that you would dismiss their opinions, right? And if you would do that, you have to ask yourself, why should we heed your opinion when you effectively call trance "lightweight" music?

I'm sorry but there will be no other band within any of our lifetimes that will come close to the prodigiously astrnomical impact the beatles had on music and popular culture as a whole.

No no. I never said popularity=quality. I dismissed their idiotic claime that people do not even care about led zeppelin or the beatles etc. aynmore.
Also about the beatles 'pop music'. Their earliest compositions were mainly rock ‘n’ roll or R&B-rooted pop songs with the occasional ballad. But they grew increasingly eclectic as composers, arrangers and performers over the years. They composed songs and arranged them in a wide array of musical styles – occasionally fusing genres.
