That's a fuck load considering the necessity needed in oil production in terms of barrel prices these days. It's scary that my dad now has time to talk on the phone, work around the house, and go to church (as silly as that may sound). Last year, my dad spent weekends in his office working on stuff, and I'd be lucky to hear a "hello" from him in a single week. He is sure he is going to get laid off. It has happened in the past. The problem is, getting a new job. The way things are now, I seriously doubt my dad will pick up another position in Project Manager for Upstream Operations. I hope things don't worsen from there for the guy.
That being said, my hours went from 32 last week to 19 this week at the coffee shop. I bitched out at my boss because of it. Pretty lame, but I don't blame them. I blame the $3.26/gallon I paid today for filling up my Honda, the $200 in groceries I paid last week at HEB (and trust me, that shit was NOT worth 200), and the highest electric bill I've ever seen or heard of (in a two bedroom apt.). I have a few friends in design that are missing out in school due to these gas prices. It's just a fucking shame that it's affecting even students trying to get an education. It all draws back on the economy though.
I wish you tons of luck Steph. Hopefully you'll pick up something pretty soon. A few of my friends have been laid off from work as well, and they are going bananas trying to find ways of making money. I RISKED Winter Music Conference bigtime, even by flying stand-by and staying with my cousin Fernando in Miami which saved me bunches. I was procrastinating it by a lot because of this whole laying off crap I keep hearing.
Only time will tell how long this will last. |
I hear ya! I rarely fill up my tank anymore and I don't spend $200 on H.E.B (ever)
I do have HD everything and that's expensive, but its worth it.
