So did you start listening again or are you gonna quit again after hearing this one? Anyway, a real TA never quits trance, but is addicted to it imo. Which doesn't mean that you cann't like other genres.

I'm really not a real TA then I guess. I like the odd trance tune here and there but the vast majority is just not for me, I feel theres far more interesting and better music out there.

I think you're getting the idea of a "real TA" confused with the notion of someone who is incapable of thinking for themselves.

Though, maybe they're just the same thing.

I definitely don't see anything special about that track. Pretty boring cookie cutter stuff IMO. Maybe the other stuff in the mix was REALLY bad and then this one just came out and rocked you. I don't know. But nothing special.

I absolutely agree that it is just music. I put it a bit to the extreme. I just don't think that someone who really, really likes trance for more than 10 years, suddenly stops listing to it and completely switches to something else.
So concluding that you're not that of a TA would be right I think and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

I think the same goes for rock, jazz, classic or any other genre. That people get interested in other genres is nothing strange. I used to like Pet Shop Boys, A-Ha, Tears for Fears, U2 next to trance, techno, happy hardcore, eurohouse. That I didn't listen it recently doesn't mean I now don't like it any more.
On the other hand I think due to time it can be that older tracks now do sound old. Because of this you might like them less than at that time.

well, for me it was more of a long-term gradual switch from trance to different styles. i wasn't very educated in electronic music when i started listening to trance. i'm pretty sure this is how most people are

Very true. I started listening to Synthesizer music like J.M. Jarre, Vangelis, Jan Hammer, Axel F.
Then next to that (acid)house came up which I also liked. Of course you cann't dance very good on Synthesizer tracks.
The combination of these two became Trance i.m.o. This makes it obvisious I think why I love todays trance as much especially what in general is played at ASOT.
Since I'm 33 I don't think many over here followed this same path.
I think there's a huge difference in what people like in trance. Obvisious that people over here (west-Europe) in general like the Tiesto and Armin stuff more than others, but sometimes I get the impression people blame them for that. I think people just want to hear this and like this more. Over 5-10 years it might be different again.
