Train with a partner.

Keep each other motivated and accountable for training hard.

I know I work out harder when I do it with a friend. Little bit of competition helps.

PS: the nipples taping thing is actually good idea, esp for girls. I know guys that do the taping of nipples too.

There's a funny scene in Run Fatboy Run where they cover that topic, with KY, lol.

Went for my first run of the year today! Talk about rough. Only did 4km, but considering I had not run for about 6 months, im happy with that.

As for tips? Its been said before, and it needs to be said again: DIET. Eat well, and eat balanced.

Dude. My first run of the season was on Saturday. I was sweating Friday night's booze. It was pretty terrible. I still can't walk right now.

You're crazy but I am very impressed (I can't run a block).

If you're doing it for charity, I will sponsor you, a dollar a mile

im doing a half iron man in july which is a half marathon run at the end.. training right now is 8- 10 one day, next day off or a 1-2miler (gets rid of lactic acid u'll feel better), next day easy 3-4. be sure to get a decent pair of shoes..esp if you have any shin splint probs or anything. stretch!!!!hit the hills... the week before you should draaastically cut back. anything you do will just take away from the big day. hit up trails as much as you can too its way more fun and its good for your feet. do some ab workouts because a strong core will help you out too. yeah diet is key..but i eat whatever, just be conscious about what your eating. other than that, dont jump the gun and bust out too many miles too soon. stay dedicated its a a good feeling of accomplishment when your done!! the bandaids are a good idea thats important when its cold esp..i have brush burns on mine right now that make me wish i woulda done it no matter how stupid you feel.

OMG, the timing of this thread could not be better...

I went out last night to see the brit-movie called "Run, Fat Boy, Run". It was hilarious! Totally a funny inspiring marathon movie.

+1
I was not expecting it to be as funny as it was... and totally inspiring

thanks to everyone for the advice...I shall keep it in mind.

I also heard that using duck tape on the inner back part of the shoes prevents blisters...is this helpful or just a myth?

If your shoe fits properly, you shouldn't be having this problem.
