Key words there are "if nothing else". Self-discovery is a given for most people during college/university; if you're going to invest significant time and money into a 4-year program then you might want to aim higher. Just my two cents, though.

And what precisely would a lifelong student know about the real world in order to say that it sucks?
I'm having a fantastic time in the real world. Much like school, what you get out of it is proportional to what you invest in it; the main difference is that the payout is also much more direct.
