There are 2 things you need:

1. Passion and
2. Persistance.

Its tough at first and very frustrating which causes a lot of people to quit and loose hope, but once you over come it its a cruise from then on. I can stand at my decks for endless hours now mixing records and I love it, it's what drives me through life atm. And yeh, your DJ idols play a big role too.. PvD, Oakenfold and Picotto got me here where I am today (just a bedroom DJ atm) but my break will come
