Am I the only one wondering why he didn't pay his taxes? Did he forget? Did he think it would go unnoticed? Was he unaware of the taxation system? Did he have a bad accountant? Strange really.

people who don't pay their taxes (income tax) have the balls to stand up for their right knowing that they can face harsh consequences later. i give my respect to them cause i don't have the balls to do so cause it's not worth the headache for me.

^^something like that happened to me with citibank about 3 years ago. i had to file and send affidavit of forgery paperwork over 6 times. a 90 day process took them a bit over a year. after all done i closed my account with citi so i withdrew all the funds i had in the account, and then 2 months later i got a letter from them saying that they have closed my account because it went overdrawn by $14 (monthly fees) and if i ever wanted to open an account with them again i had to pay that $14.

uhm, what if you forgot to file tax, and it already passed the deadline? Can you still file an extension? or can you still file your tax?

If he even gets to appeal, he will be surely doing it from his prison cell. Fail. And, while I don't know every detail about this case, I believe that the issue isn't *only* about him not paying his income taxes. He also conspired to commit fraud. That's what's getting him f'ed here...

Already passed the deadline? You could still file your tax.
Anyone can file an extension-6months(+ prepayment), but it's design for people who know they owes money to the irs. If you know you are geting a refund, you could file your tax 1-2 years later if you want to, but who wants to do that's like letn the irs borrows your money for free.

If anyone wants to know the specifics on IRS tax arguments check the link below. It specifically discusses the 'voluntary filing' issue among others.
