Surely everyone is entitled to their own opinions??
I used to rate Oakey as #1 in the mid to late 90s, although many disagreed. It's all about personal tastes and that differs from person to person.
I don't rate Oakenfold as being that good these days for many reasons but some people still do and that's fine by me.
Also, with regards to the Perfecto On Tour mixes (68,70,71,72,73,74)...I can't see why people are blaming Oakey for that. He doesn't control the radio station who are quite obviously rebroadcasting the mix under a different name each week.
However, I do agree he needs to start playing some fresh tracks.....in his position, he has access to so much new material which is making other djs playlist so why is he choosing to ignore it?
I do have my doubts about the authenticity of some of these Perfecto On Tour mixes. So many people have said they were present at some of the venues and Oakenfold played a completely different set to the one broadcast on Sirius. Maybe Oakey is making them in his own time or perhaps one of his 'assistants' is putting them together for him?? I have enjoyed quite a few of the mixes though, some have been outstanding....I just think a little clarity is required to determine originality etc. |
Yes, you have right in what you say. I think that someone in Oakeys position has many chances to get all kind of new musical material. Why is he doing this awful sets from months is a mistery for me. Yes, all these sets are mixed by him in person. Just check it out how it blends one tune after another, and you realize that this blend has his signature. The only one responsible for what happened is Oakenfold. And his team. I wouldn't blame Sirius, because they played what Oakenfold's tema gives to broadcast.
And what you say about the dates and places is, again, something that several in this forum has pointed out, because PoT is a weekly radio show, not a real broadcast from a live concert. Thats another thing that we all are claiming. We need to listen real live sets, and not always studio sets, that are all prepared with anticipation. Its incredible that only Oakenfold its drowned in this awful situation. There is no one single other DJ that has the same problem with its job. And Oakenfold continue travelling the world as if nothing happens. Its a shame.
