nothing has two discrete center channels.
7.1 is two fronts, one center, one sub, two side surrounds, and two rear surrounds.
yes, 7.1 is only discrete on blu ray (or hd dvd...bla bla bla), but most receivers matrix it to 7.1, unless you went the home theater in a box route, in which case you may as well be shitting in your hands and rubbing it on your ears, anyway.
