if ur using ur sweet ass setup of cdjs and TTs, ur gonna just channel into ur laptop...if ur laptop is rather new, it should be fine... 44 khz is alright...most onboard soundcards go up to 96khz which really...not many use..

Well, you've seen it But would the microphone input be considered line-in on the laptop? because even if I try to record straight to my laptop, it sounds unbarable.

toggle the input level.. remember that a mic input is powered..not the same as a line input....same like on ur mixer, analog input is powered/amped and line in isnt....just dont red line and u will be fine...
