Fruits Basket for something more comical
Samurai 7 I thought was well done being different enough from the Kurosawa masterpiece not to make the comparison but retaining the skeletal outline to some extent. Also, very pretty picture (great animation and widescreen) combined w/ 5.1 sound and heavy drums make for a good audio/visual experience.
As already mentioned, Elfen Lied kicks ass, quite dark

And about the ending of Elfen Lied, as far as i can remember Lucy goes on a rampage, kills nearly aeverybody, but in the end she cant kill that guy shes in love with sho she just goes off somewhere. Its been years since ive watched this, and ive only watched it sonce, so my recollection of it is shady at best.
Anybody enjoy School Rumble or Lucky Star? Those are awesome fucking animes.

No it fucking sucks. The animatrix should have been fully cgi if they couldn't afford actors/cgi. Or at least drawn with realistic cartoons/flash style stuff (like south park).
