There is no way 'clear' the tracks from vocals or drums. Al these element contain certain frequencies and they overlap, so that isn't possible.

Subtractive synthesis has nothing to do with patches of the Subtractor in reason, altough the name does give a hint. Subtractive synthese is a sort of synthesis that a synthesizer (like Subtractor) uses to create sounds. Subtractive synthesis is all about filtering out the frequencies that you have created with the oscillators to create a certain sound.

By your questions I notice that you really are a beginner in EMP (electronic music production), but that doesn't matter, everybody has to start from scratch. Let me point you out in the right direction:

Basic tutorals about EMP
- http://www.nineteeneightyfour.net/t...ls/embasics.pdf
- http://www.mio.co.za/article.php?cat=&id=1175
- http://emusictips.com/

If you start reading these, you'll know much more of what EMP is about.

Good luck!

Ok, I think Ill just listen to the song with Blaze Media Pro (apparently that slows down the song, without changing the pitch)
Basically, I should note for:
1. intro length
2. breakdown/buildup length
3. outro length
4. what the basic drum pattern is throughout the song
5. what melody enters where, what does it sound like
6. what pad enters where, what it sounds like (clean, mellow, noisy, low)
7. effects on main synths, what effects being used? when being used?

is that basically the seven things I should look for?

And I will totally look at those when Im done with my homework tonight, thanks

-edit- Thanks DJ, I appreciate it. Quite a bit of people that I have good ideas, its not theoretically right. Im looking forward to my next two tracks. One of them Im working on now, and its going to be all Thor in reason. Another one will be after I analyzed about 5 of my favorite trance tracks.

It feels a little muddy or cloudy. so I'd work on eqing your specific channels a bit to thin out the instraments to give it a more channeled feel.

boost the plink .. but otherwise good.

a little more punch on the bass might be good also

Thanks. And I will do that and see how that sounds, thanks.
And for the muddiness, what instruments would I put through an EQ (I think I used EQs on every synth, so am I not using it right, or is that the problem that Im using too much EQ)

And for the punch, just raise the attack?

You must be careful with EQ-ing.. It is a very powerful tool that can help you to let your mix sound superb.. But it can also destroy the entire mix.

You should really get into reading about EQ (I know that's not really interesting but it can only help you).

Reason user here; I'd start off every track by putting the Mastering Combinator before the Mixer. That way you can Maximize, Compress and EQ the whole track way easier. I think that's why your track sounds so quiet. You need to maximize that shit ;]

I don't agree with that. You should never compress of EQ you the whole track, use compression on every different channel en EQ where needs to be, but never on the entire track, because with compression it could be that the 'silent' parts (breaks e.d.) are going to be pumped up in volume, and when the kick starts in, the compressor lowers the volume again. You need to be sure that every sounds in a track stays at the same level during the track.
