Here's some good vocal trance. Possibly the first ever vocal trance song, really...

WTF was that? That's an awful remix of, I'd say, pretty mediocre tune (even for 1992). That stupid "I believe in power of American Natives" line Linda shouts now and then adds absolutely nothing to the overall impression of the track. You didn't really prove anything with that example.

And I agree with the guy who said there's no good trance with vocals (except when they're used as a layer of texture). Trance is a music style with a specific function and vocals usually just deviate your attention from what's important and impoverish the overall effect. To verify all this, here's the same track without vocals (released on the b-side of the original single):

Some links, there are so many, you can also search for "Trance Voices".

Fragma - I Need A Miracle (Club Remix)

Two a friend of mine, Lisaya made, "A life so changed" is with the female singer of Era (known from "Ameno"):

Soulcry - A life so changed (Lisaya vs Petersen mix)

Soulcry - A
Life So Changed (Talla 2XLC vs. Ace Da Brain)

Lisaya Vs. Petersen Pres. Imperion - Wings

One of the best vocal trance tracks ever:

Matt Darey presents Mash Up-Liberation

Just two lines, but so good (male):

Nalin & Kane - Open Your Eyes

One I just found and never heard: Liberation

And of course one of my personal favourites of this year with male vocals. If someone says "Trance may not have vocals" I just lauch
This maybe is the best example that vocals can add something.
But certainly not all trance should have vocals, because many vocals are crap, then you can better have none.

Not an awful remix at all. I bet only here you can find people who agree with you. Most I think don't. The version with vocals was the one played at the big clubs and many including me thought was awesome.

The one with the vocals is IMO a classic.

Well, that's your opinion and I respect it (I don't really, but to sound correct, let's say I do). I explained why I don't like it, and you explained why you like it (although "it was played at the big clubs" argument is not very convincing).

Mattsanity, you're an idiot. You not agreeing with me is just a compliment

Well, actually I didn't explain why I liked it. But because it was played everywhere that means others besides me really liked it. I don't think I need to explain why I liked it.

@chrisday,

nice list, you just forgot to mention Tiesto with Kane there. I can understand this because of Tiesto's popularity over here, but you really shouldn't care.
Kane by the way is a Dutch (soft) rock band, pretty good by the ways because of singers special/strange voice.

I have one to add I ran into going through some older cd's of mine. 1997, wow long time ago:

Solar Stone - The Calling (Still Waters mix)

Couldn't find this one at Youtube, but did find another one which is a lot alike, just doesn't have the male voice:

1997 Howcome vocals ruined Trance lately. Vocals have been there for a long time. Just have become more popular. Then automatically more bad tracks get made. I just skip those.
