Its all about budget.
Over here stateside, Access upped the price of the other TIs by about $500. They say it was an adjustment because of currency conversions, which very well may be justified, I admit. This price fix happened literally overnight without warning. If you went to Guitar Center a few weeks back you would have seen the TI much more expensive than a week earlier. All the online retailer websites changed the price simultaneously too.
I found it interseting however, prior to the price hike, they stopped shipment to all stockers of the TI here in the states. Once orders started to come in and retailers became out of stock, Access initiated the hike. The reason maybe that they wanted to price the unit in roughly the high $1500s, but who would pay close to $1500 (after discounts)for the Snow when they could get the TI Destop for a little bit more. The Desktop is by far a better feature set. And of course once the Desktop unit went to about $2395 MSRP so too did the Keyboard models have to be hiked in price accordingly.
So in the end, if you are in the states, you are going to pay almost what you could've bought the Desktop for and receive the dumbed down Snow.
All of the economics aside, I am sure you are going to rock out with whatever you decide on. I personally own the TI Desk and it is a staple in my productions no matter how many bounces I have to do to get it right in multiple tracks. Producers have done a lot more with less available. Enginuity can extend creativity. The snow should make you a product to be proud of if budget is a concern here.
