Well, like I said, I hadn't seen him in a while -- I think it's been at least three years. Wasn't like that the last time I saw him.

Can't say I blame him, though. There was a plethora of drunk twats and e-tards literally throwing themselves at him and bowing down, screaming his name and putting their hands in the air, etc. It was the biggest display of douchebaggery I've seen in quite a while. :/

The way I try to think about it, he's bowing to me hahhhahhaha

Seriously though I still like the music he plays, and I love all dance music except Polka

It's celebrity worship, nothing more, nothing less. No different from the fawning fans throwing their underwear at the Rolling Stones or swooning at every mention of the name Elvis. Most women have these tendencies, although in all fairness, most guys will also rush to watch any female DJ with big boobs and a little cleavage.

Remember, trance crackers, you wished for this. You complained bitterly that it was too hard to find like-minded people, that the governments were unfairly cracking down on raves, that normal people looked at you funny when you said you listened to trance and asked "is that like techno or something?" Well, you got what you wanted - now it's a mainstream genre played in clubs and on the radio and this is what happens with every mainstream music genre.

NOTHING is more boring than paying lots of money to get in to a club to see some dj, and he's just standing there looking down at the mixer, not even looking up once to see the reaction of the crowd. I'm thinking of djs like Dave Clarke etc..

Whenever I am out playing, I always have to look out at the crowd to see how the tracks I play are being recieved... Nothing is better than see the crowd go wild because of something I did!

Why the heck do you care what the DJ's doing? Just listen to the music...

Huh? I don't get that. They're being paid to play music. Especially if you're talking about techno (literal techno) DJs like Dave Clarke or Jeff Mills, they're waaaay too busy on the decks to worry about that shit. It's like expecting a pianist or a drummer in a band to dance for you while he performs. Not gonna happen.

Strange, I hear people say this a lot and it's never made a lick of sense to me. I think it's just flimsy rationalization for DJ favoritism.

LOL. Good analogy.

DJs aren't trained monkeys there to entertain you by jumping around. They're musical performers paid to play good music...

it makes perfect sense, a part of being a performer is to perform... not just play out music... its like you expect guitarists to go wild when playing... and BTW check out travis barker... that drummer can fuckn perform...

going to a concert or any musical event was allways about performances... if you wouldnt see the performer and seeing him do his magic, like those crazy pianists tripping while playing, it would be just like putting a cd at home listening with some people...

and a dj's first thing in mind should be looking at the reaction he gets... thats what hes there for...

i think you people dont see this maybe cos you never really performed... i played french horn for 8 yrs. and when i played solos and while doing so i stood up and made a performance it really made a difference, the crowd reacted much better from the times i stayed seated during solos (in an orchestra ofcourse...)...

and a more related to trance music, i went up one night after a hip hop dj that was making little to none crowd reaction, and made a performance, enjoyed and danced with my music, and the people reacted much better... (i think it was also a kind of a relief from that two hours of hip hop...)

djs are there to entertain you, thats the whole point man... how they do it is their issue, and if you like them just staring at the tables thats fine... i guess i can find you guys sitting in chairs in the middle of trance energy or something appreciating the music and clapping mildly when there are good transitions

There's a difference between simple crowd interaction and what I was describing I saw.
