If we're being really serious here though I would have to go back in time and stop the British from gaining control of Palestine from the Ottoman Empire |
The Ottoman empire crubmled b/c in World War I Turkey made the mistake of supporting Germany. Besides, if the Ottoman Empire still had control that would pretty much also mean that many of Israel's neighbors would also still be under Ottoman rule. Who knows when those countries would have ended up being liberated.
Furthremore, people here keep talking about the Jews and their American and European friends. Don't the Arab palestinians have a friend in the Arab league? Well then, hey here's another "simple" option (based on the options given so far): Tell the Palestinians they have 22 neighboring countries they can move to. Hell, in Jordan the majority of the population is Palestinian, and that's been the case since before the creation of Israel. Haven't you ever wondered why that is? And have you forgotten it was the Palestinians who assasinated Jordan's first king back in the 50s?

|
direct me to a place that is between the US and Canadian border.
To the question at hand.....
we need to let them fight it out. One side has to have a divisive victory. outside influence will do nothing because noone except the israelis and palestinians have a stake in the land. when land is involved, since people don't usually leave an area without coercion, only a severe ass kicking will solve the problem.

2. Complete evacuation of all settlements not prepared to live under Palestinian law/sovereignty
3. All Palestinian refugees in the diaspora given the opportunity to move to the new Palestinian state in new settlements built with funds from the international community/Israel or settlement evacuated by Jewish settlers
4. Golan Heights/Shebaa given to Syria/Lebanon respectively (shoudl eliminate Hizballah's raisin d'etre and apply pressure on them to dissarm)
5. Jerusalem to fall under the joint sovereignty of Palestine and Israel with equal access for all faiths
6. The new Palestinian state in Gaza and West Bank be allowed to become viable by having full control over borders, foreign policy, energy supply etc and economic sustainability underpinned by mass investment from the West/Israel
7. If Israel feels the need, and should the economic investment create an environment where it would not be detrimental to the new Palestinian state, then borders between Israel and Palestine could be closed for a certain cooling off period (a "Channel Tunnel" style passage to be built between Gaza and West Bank to allow free movement between the two sections)
8. George Smiley to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and to be the first person in history to use the word "cunt" in his acceptance speech |
Sensible proposal... But that does not really address the minor fact that neither of the organizations like Al Queda, Hammas, Hizbolla, among myriads of others even want to have a place called "Israel" anywhere. Assuming your proposal (which is not much different from many similar proposals put forth before) would pass, it would still not appease the aforementioned organizations. Furthermore, assuming that such initiative would take place, how confident do you feel about the safety of the Jews in this newly created country? Do you think that they would not be persecuted, executed, and otherwise allowed to exist. Remember, we're not talking about mentality change - as the feud that existed since biblical times would still remain.
Furthermore, the land that's holly to Jews (and with all due respect was holly for about 4000 years before Islam), namely Jerusalem - would most likely be destroyed... do you really think that places of Jewish significance would be allowed to remain? just some thoughts out loud.
