i didn't really like the film. i wanted to, but i didn't. you set high expectations for yourself when you list kubrick in the OP. i respect what you've done, but it doesn't really stand on its own. it seems like it would have needed all of the other films played in your class to say/mean anything

if you're going for minimalism the execution and technical means need to be perfect but alas it is far from being the case here.

Between the constant bass rumble due to wind and mechanical noise which you could have probably cut using a BP ( lf cut-off ) filter and an off camera microphone.
Blown out over exposed areas.

Which makes the (slim) storyline pretty damn silly. I couldn't figure out why couldn't they eat and drink neither - maybe that was one of your goals, leaving an air of ambiguity? I'm pretty sure sillyness wasn't one of the goals.

It was also too boring, I can see the point of making a slow movie, but with so many dead times (like the camera focusing on trees for 30 seconds), you should at very least present more things for us to think about during those periods.

I liked the final music too.

But then again I don't know if my criticism makes any sense, I don't even like movies much, I'm certainly not qualified to be a movie critic, lol.
