I've heard good things about these, but I'm in Dallas and not sure if you have to be local to get them fit for your ears... and they aren't cheap...

These were also recommended by a friend but I've never used them:

If you really want to go down this road to deafness I would suggest that you go for a set of powered speakers that you can also use for parties like the JBL 15" Eons (I used a set of these at a party the other day and I thought they were great) or something similar.

I use the etymotics. They're great unless you have the cash to get custom ones which I can only assume fit better. But customs ones cost about 10x as much.

Look at the Behringer Truths. They're clear and can get pretty loud. Not PA loud, but loud.

The speakers I have are 400/800/1600. So 400 for each speaker, and that seems to be my limitation, not the amps. In fact, the amps are never above halfway. It's rare that I use this much though - parties, etc. But just messing around spinning, which I don't do much of anymore, I don't crank it up too much.

The power has to do with ohms. 400 is the real number for my system - so 1600 combined, yes. The amps have more than enough power - the speakers will go before the amps do with what I have.

Ideally you want your amp to put out as many watts as the max rating on your speakers. Or more so you have more headroom.
