another vote for upgrading your mixer.

and I second the notion of purchasing a quality mixer. ie, Pioneer, Ecler, A&H, higher-end Vestax, or Rane.

upgrade the mixer. i upgraded my mixer from a pioneer djm 300 to an ecler nuo 2. i knew nothing about ecler until i got some advice from some forums. it was a great decision.

for what you get...pioneer mixers are wayyyyy overpriced. don't get the djm400...it's just not worth it.

Definitely..

Upgrading from a perfectly good pair of cdj200 to old pairs of 1000's isn't worth it imo..

I'm also on the hunt for a new mixer.. What would you guys recommend upgrading from a Vestax VMC-004.. price range about $5-600
Have been looking at the Xone 32 but would probably love a 62.. even though i've never used studio style faders

Ive been happy with my DJM400.Its just for private/home use anyway. Wasnt expencive. I record through a couple rack mount items I had from the past.(compressor and a converter analog to digital) I havent ran into any troubles soundwise. I havent come accross anything that made me regret the purchase. Hell I dont really use the effects either. It doesnt suck but there are others that may have other requirements that the DJM400 just doesnt meet.

I would do mixer and all to what your budget can handle. That way it give you time to practice on it to get use to before get better CDJ that also will change your way you play some.

i beg to differ dude

ive played on the shittiest mixers in the world and the only person it generally affects is ME-

as long as you can play CDs/Vinyls/whatever, THAT is the most important thing.

no music no life

but then again, a mixer is a very worthwhile upgrade to a beginner setup.

Well, isn't that obvious? lol

I mean. Oviously I'm not saying having a mixer by itself is more important than getting decks/players first, but when it comes down to it, the mixer is where the MIX happens. Good sound quality and comfort of use go a long way when you're playing.

I'd rather play on a good mixer with CDJ-100s than a crap mixer with DVDJs, personally.

For the most part, everyone is right here. While I think the numark is a decent mixer for the price, I would recommend replacing it before moving on to your cd players. Typcially, trance music doesn't really require using scratch features that make the 800's appealing.

I have the same exact setup as you including Torq, haha.

From this thread I'm really looking at the Ecler Nuo 2, but am confused between the 2 and 2.0. I understand the 2.0 has a couple more fader features good for scratch DJs and I also heard that the sound is a little better. Is this true? I don't scratch so I was thinking about just getting the 2 since it's a little cheaper but I don't want to sacrafice sound quality.

Anybody know??

I assumed 2= 2.0 ?
I wasn't aware there was a difference, if possible I would just try them both out and see which one you like more.

Replace the Numark

It'll improve your EQing tenfold. Numark EQs are the worst.
