tbh, its always better to 'eat the real thing' as if you actually made it, you generally know what actually went into it.

i try to follow this more as processed foods are now loaded with soy and i am allergic. its a pain sometimes, and you cant make everything you always want without a complicated recipe, but ive nailed a few things that are pretty damn good, not nec meat free tho.

i prefer quorn when it comes to the morningstar type deals as quorn is soy free. but if you are really worried about health and not eating meat, its time to start researching recipes and cooking for yourself.

fajitas are always a good start, meat or non meat|

I've been a vegetarian my entire life.
Morningstar Farms is kind of a joke in the veggie meat community. They've been credited with making the first "soy" burger, "Grillers" which are really my favorite of the fake-meat burgers, but they're totally not GOOD for you. Its just a way for me to have a burger to grill at a BBQ that doesn't taste like cardboard.
Most of the morningstar products use a lot of filler ingredients that equal more calories and less nutrients.
Boca makes chicken nugget things that are slightly better for you and I think taste better overall compared to the ones morningstar makes.
Most new vegetarians or people just looking for a meat alternative really like the morningstar brand b/c its kinda greasy and more meat-like..satisfies the "fast food" cravings, but is def better for you than McDonalds.

If you start feeling really bold, try Tofurky deli slices...the cranberry and stuffing kind is my faaaavorite.
Oooo Ooo and veggie Shrimp are THE BEST ever!
i love veggie meats :-D

Vegetarian food doesn't necessarily mean organic

If you're worried about all the weird stuff, get Trader Joes frozen foods. They tend to be organic.

p.s.. fossil fuels???????? did i read that right!?!

BTW they use real eggs...there are absolutely no "fake eggs" on the market in veggie-meat land. they're using fake veggie bacon or sausage in this particular one, which is the TVP.

OKay I see.

Honestly, if youre eating any kind of meat that comes from a big farm, its going to be shit. Even fish. If the fish arent naturally caught, theyre going to have problems.

Knowing what I know (and I actually know more than Id like to about the way food is processed) Id say that going vegetarian is better. You dont have to give up your Morningstar, but maybe dont eat 5 a day. Everything in moderation.

(The thing about fossil fuels in the beef - yes - the fertilizer they use for the corn and grain in the feed is fossil fuel based. Therefore, the cattle/chickens are ingesting fuel. ALSO, did you know that they feed cows cow-patties and ground beef? Thats why they have to keep all the cows on antibiotics. Nature has devised a way to keep us from eating our own shit and eating each other - you get really fucking sick and die. Antibiotics keep them from getting sick and dying, but then you get to eat the antibiotic, too. Not good!)

i ordered them frozen from a website in china...seriously, for people allergic to shrimp or vegetarians like me that just don't eat shrimp, they're freakin amazing. everyone i know that has tried them says they taste just like real shrimp but without the slight "crunch" real shrimp have..they're slightly chewy instead, but you can grill, bake, fry, saute, etc--anything Bubba would do with real shrimp you can do with these! I make a lot of vegetarian Thai food and use fake veggie meats i order from sketchy chinese websites

Obviously everything should be done in moderation. I don't know if I can become a "vegeterian". It would be too strict for me and I'm just looking to eat a little healthier. I do get chicken that is 100% natural and they say the chickens weren't given hormones etc..

Ang- Are u a vegeterian? You know alot! thx btw ;]

Yeah just make sure you know where it came from and what it was fed. If it claims to be "natural" then it probably is, but I admit I dont know how they regulate certain words/claims. Also, "free-range" tends to be good.

I do what youre thinking about doing. I dont eat meat on a daily basis, but sometimes I have it when we go out to dinner on the weekends. I also eat dairy and fish. Although not much fish.
