Too late.... Like trance, maybe 10%, at best, of the tracks I hear in techno sets are sounding good anymore.... I think every mother's brother has beaten it to death already (minimal, I'm talking about), whereas, however, techno (TECHNO techno) will always survive... The style of and energy of Chris Liebing will always be more pleasing to my ears than most tech producers post-2005, I think there's only a certain amount of combinations of wierd sounds you can put together. Afterwards, like trance, it's just an copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, with very few people breaking boundaries (like Maetrik or Phil Kieran and Dusty Kid). |
Isn't the 10% rule true of all EDM? I mean think of how many shitty electro house producers there are for every deadmau5/chris lake/dirty south. Like all music, the more popular something becomes, the greater the likelihood for shitty knockoffs. But, if it weren't for shitty popular stuff, the good stuff might not see light of day. It's like we talked about in the DJ Sammy thread. Even though he's got no credibility with the underground, DJ Sammy (and similar acts) brought trance to the masses and made it more paletable to the general public, and as such allowed the more underground acts to get more recognition. Can't do a US tour of a techno act unless people outside of NYC have heard of them
