'dry' is just your personal preference as Myself and others i'm sure would say otherwise. It has nothing to do with people 'finding their own taste' as i'm a musician and enjoy dozens of musical genres. Don't sound so narrow minded, as life is boring when you stay exclusive to only certain things. I've always liked this slower sound, its just been produced more heavily in the last few years.
Is this genre a fad? well who knows, only time will tell if i look back on this music 10 years later and hit play. Although i still enjoy almost all the music i grew up with since the mid-90s, And will bust out a classic trance cd from time to time too. |
I'm saying it's become dry from formulaic repetition, not because the 'style' is dry.
And it absolutely is about people finding their own taste because far too often I hear a new artist saying how much they want to copy a certain style/sound. When the Deadmau5 8th note trend hit, all the new producers I'm in contact with said "HOW DO YOU DO THAT?" - rather than learning how to actually engineer their sounds and develop their own style, they just want to immitate.
I'm not narrow minded; I simply call a spade a spade. I listen to many different genres, and don't care who listens or doesn't listen to them. I'm just tired of people flocking to something because it's become the latest trend. [/rant]
