One other suggestion - use the furniture to your advantage. If you must couple the studio with a bedroom, stick some furniture in the corners and in areas that may help you trap some of the bass. They may not (or may for all I know) work as well as a bass traps, but from reading SOS, you can use a grip of daily use furniture as tools to minimize reflection and trap the bass. Just something to think about as you set everything up.

Yeah furniture's something I'll be paying alot of attention to. I've heard that a bookcase on the wall facing your monitors is a good idea and been doing a bit of reading about that sort of thing.
