Doesn't hold a candle to the original.

How does it not hold a candle to the original? It's basically the same fucking song with a new kick.

The degree to which some folks nitpick here absolutely boggles my mind.

Edit: And I don't know why people are nostalgic for the original in the first place - it's a great track, but hardly a masterpiece. It's 13 minutes of the same loop that spends the last minute slowly getting quieter.

This remix is good but it doesn't come close to the perfection from the original. The only gripe I have with the original is that it's not long enough.

Please tell me you're being sarcastic.

This is just one of those tracks that hits my ear perfectly. I've sat at the computer with this track on continuous loop many times. I'm only upset I've never been able to hear this on a really good system at full force.

the melody is phrased fine, but it has been syncopated in places

remixes like this which retain the entire melody basically of a really popular track and only give it a certain superficial "style" that are useless IMO.

just make a new track

The impression I get from the remix is that he wanted to make it more club friendly, while making it easily recognizeable as to what track it's a remix for.

I usually like those types of remixes to be honest. Radio Slave does it all of the time and they usually end up sounding great.

Fair enough then. I just think it goes on for far too long, and the original is relatively DJ-unfriendly unless you're playing a bit more chill set (at least, IMO).

I don't know about useless, but certainly not all that praiseworthy. I think this mix works just because it is basically the whole of the original with a bit thicker low end that translates much better to larger systems.

I don't really think it's trying to fit into a certain style, but it does definitely lend itself to DJ's much better than the original did.

I also have a clear bias though, because that Konrad set that Clovis posted a video from sold me on this mix entirely.

that's exactly what i feel is the problem

originality = win

relying on other people's success =

also useless was a bad word. they're entirely practical. exclusively practical. artistic or original - that they are not.

this easy recognizability is the America Online of dance music.
just not my thing, but I realize I am in the minority.

i can't stand when i recognize something like marionette in a set. if i recognize something it's more fun when it's something obscure that i can secretly enjoy.

this is like sing along techno

on a side note, i don't own any radio slave remixes except his remix of Francois K.
